Thurman founded and leads a technology training and awareness organization whose goal is to address the “digital divide” by promoting technology training to the Washington DC area. Patriots Technology Training Center (Patriots) is a community-based organization located in the City of Seat Pleasant, Maryland. Patriots focuses on the youth of the community and offers competition programs such as Lego, Robotics, Computer Building, Cyber Security, Flight Simulation, SeaPerch, Tri-Math-A Lon, Bio-Medical, Renewable Energy, Environmental Justice and Solar Systems. Additionally, the Patriots host the Annual Youth Summit on Technology, Video Gaming Conference and a Summer Camp.
It is the Mission of the Patriots to generate interest, education, jobs and careers for all ages to underserved students who might not have access to today’s technology. Because of his involvement with the youth, the Career Communication Group has selected him to chair their national K-12 Committee whose initiative is to create programs to inspire more students to have a career in science, technology, engineering and math.
