M. Therese Flaherty is the Director of the Wharton Small Business Development Center. The Wharton SBDC (http://whartonsbdc.wharton.upenn.edu/) is part of the Sol C. Snider Entrepreneurial Research Center of Wharton Entrepreneurship at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. The Wharton SBDC has served over 25,000 businesses. Since its founding in 1980, the Wharton SBDC has offered opportunities for entrepreneurs with high-growth businesses to address mission-critical challenges with teams of Wharton professionals and students. This has enabled several generations of Wharton students to learn from and assist in meeting the challenges of Philadelphia’s leading entrepreneurs and has boosted the prospects of over 25,000 of our region’s growing businesses.
Dr. Flaherty serves on the Advisory Boards of the Roy and DianaVagelos Program in Life Sciences and Management and the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania as well as on the Governing Body of the Athena Powerlink Program of the National Association of Women Business Owners and the Greater Philadelphia Metro Export Plan Steering Committee. She has taught economics, global marketing and operations management at the Wharton School, Harvard Business School and Stanford University. She earned her PhD from Carnegie-Mellon University and her BS from Tufts University. She is the author of Global Operations Management (McGraw-Hill).
