Jan Tyler founded Blacktie-DC, building on the 14 year legacy of Blacktie-CO, pioneer online fundraising event planning and promotion one-stop-shop. Founded in 2001 by a visionary social entrepreneur, then 67 years old, Blacktie has helped 2,000 nonprofits raise more than $111,400,000 at 60,000+ events. Before Eventbrite, before GoFundMe, Blacktie strived to give nonprofits nominally priced online tools to register attendees, post auctions and create a lasting photography archive to attract future sponsors, donors and event guests. Ms. Tyler spent nearly 20 years at Morgan Stanley in the Denver office as an Associate Vice President, Financial Advisor, and has an avocation, election administration, serving on 10 missions to seven countries for election monitoring, including a recent trip – her third – to Ukraine in October 2014. Ms. Tyler exemplifies the emergence of social entrepreneurs, having served as a fundraiser, board member, founding a nonprofit herself (Colorado Women’s China Mission in 1989), while immersed in Wall Street.
