Gwen Hurt is the Founder and CEO of Shoe Crazy Wine. She leads an international private label wine company with offices in the US and Asia. Gwen became an entrepreneur due to results on two key events in her life. A car accident that took nearly a year of recovery and being downsized by the company in which she had spent 17 years. During her physical therapy and rehabilitation, Gwen made the decision NOT to succumb to depression. She instead started a company based on her passion “WINE.” Shoe Crazy Wine, LLC launched in late 2013 as an online direct to consumer business. When one thinks of innovation, traditional businesses are not the first thing that come to mind. However Gwen believes that launching a start up in two countries simultaneously is innovation at its core. Utilizing social media technology to market and drive product awareness in both countries was key to Shoe Crazy’s successful branding and business model. In today’s fast paced technology driven world, Gwen has proven that we can successfully launch and manage a company with not much more than a smartphone and social media.
This past year Gwen has grown her business, adding distribution, Importing and Exporting into Asia, Gwen works diligently to increase sales and looks to partner with other distributors, grow her business, increase sales and continue to expand into foreign markets. Gwen Hurt believes in giving back. She believes everyone can be a philanthropist. Gwen also believes in mentoring. And inspires others to feed their passion through entrepreneurial pursuits.
Prior to launching Shoe Crazy Wine, Gwen built a Global Process and Controls organization with a major IT company. As Director, she was responsible for end to end, strategic consulting projects focused on process improvement, budget management; spend reduction, risk management and customer excellence within the company for all organizations and departments. She led a high performance, cross cultural team located in multiple geographic locations (The Americas, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe).
